PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) is often based on organic materials such as cornstarch or sugarcane. The material is easier and safer to print with and the finished product is both smoother and shinier. It has a relatively low melting point of 180–210° C, again depending upon the compound being used. However, it is also more brittle than, say, ABS, and accordingly is more difficult to utilize in conjunction with post-processing applications. We also do not recommend that it be used in environments exceeding 60°. For your convenience, Pantone shade references are listed on the “AVAILABLE FILAMENTS” page.
